Campus Safety - Officer 1
Niagara University, a private Catholic institution sponsored by the Vincentian Community is seeking one full-time campus safety officer.

A full time position in the Campus Safety Department, the Campus Safety Officer 1 under specific supervision, supervises other officers, dispatchers and campus safety personnel, and patrols the campus environs. Essential duties:

  • Serve as Shift Supervisor on a regular basis sixteen (16) hours per week and on an as needed basis;
  • Assist student employees;
  • Patrol campus environs by foot and/or vehicle to observe and report suspicious activity and/or criminal activity;
  • Respond to emergencies, take appropriate action and document all incidents;
  • Issue tickets for parking and moving violations;
  • Make payroll runs and general courier service;
  • Provide friendly, courteous, respectful service to the Niagara University community;
  • Attend various training seminars and is responsible for retention of information;
  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications: A high school diploma, or any combination of education equivalent to graduation from high school or other combination of education, training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities (Associate degree in Criminal Justice preferred); two years related experience; and current New York State Security Guard license; First Aid or the ability to complete certification; Valid driver's license that meets insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria; Must be able to drive in Canada.

    Desirable Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and problem solving skills; Experience in use of various computer, card access and CCTV systems.

    Hourly pay rate $12.50/hr. Shift differential is offered.
