Director of Professional Development & Research for Catholic Education
Niagara University, a private Catholic university sponsored by the Vincentian Community, seeks a Director of Professional Development & Research for Catholic Education. This part time year round professional position reporting to the Dean of the College of Education is responsible for the implementation of goals and objectives of the partnership between Stella Niagara Education Park and Niagara University. In addition, as a member of the College of Education, the Director will be available to teach courses in the education programs.
• Incorporate Catholic teaching knowledge, skill and experience into professional development and mentoring opportunities for teachers and administrators working in Catholic schools;
• Develop working liaisons between Catholic educators and public schools curriculum and instructional support systems to coordinate professional development for Catholic education personnel on educational mandates and expectations in the State or province and on research-based practices that enhance teaching and learning across content areas;
• Develop pre-service opportunities to prepare educational leaders and teachers in the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values for implementing the vision of Catholic education and integrating the faith into the community of learning;
• Expand research in Catholic schools;
• Explore and foster uses of technology to carry out professional development in Catholic education;
• Expand required field experience and internship opportunities of pre-service programs in Catholic schools.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s in educationally related field (Ph.D preferred);
2. Teaching or administrative experience in Ontario and New York State is required; (Teaching certification preferred)
3. University teaching experience (graduate or undergraduate) required
4. Administrative experience in working with Pre-K through 12 Catholic schools. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to conduct research;
2. Ability to interpret assessment data (statistics).
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong knowledge of grant writing.
5. Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: typewriter, calculator, copy machine, computer, printer and fax machine.
6. Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone.
7. Ability to effectively solve problems in an efficient and timely manner. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
