Rink Attendant
Niagara University, a private Catholic university sponsored by the Vincentian Community seeks a Rink Attendant who performs essential duties in maintenance, concession and rink operations. Perform physical examinations to evaluate the chief complaint and differentiate between abnormal and normal physical findings;
- Operate Zamboni to resurface ice rinks on a routine basis as needed;
- Operate edger machine on a routine basis;
- Cleans facility to maintain neat appearance;
- Operates skate sharpening machine;
- General knowledge of concession operations
- Performs minor repairs to the facility and equipment;
- Work evenings, weekends and some Holidays;
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma required or any combination of education equivalent to graduation from high school or other combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities; associate degree in related field is preferred.
- One year experience performing similar tasks in a recreational facility is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to be able to read and understand various forms, documentation, files and information in the department.
2) Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to be able to perform the duties of this position.
3) Good understanding of all rink operations; includes resurfacing of ice rinks and minor equipment maintenance.
4) Ability to work in a cool environment for long periods of time.
5) Ability to work evenings, weekends and some Holidays.
6) Knowledge of concession and pro-shop operations.
7) Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
8) Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
The start of the pay range is $9.12 per hour.
