Assistant Professor - Teacher Education in Ontario, Canada
The College of Education at Niagara University, a private catholic institution sponsored by the Vincentian Community, invites applications for one tenure track position in the initial teacher education program in the Province of Ontario. The appointment will be a rank of assistant professor and will begin August, 2009.

We seek candidates who have expertise/experience in teaching at the elementary level, (primary/junior in Ontario) a strong knowledge of core curriculum K-8, a strong knowledge of K-12 literacy instruction, and knowledge of the education of teachers in Ontario. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to initial teacher education and the continuing professional development of teachers in accordance with legislation and the Ontario College of Teachers, as well as a commitment to issues of equity and diversity.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in education or a related field; however, consideration will be given to candidates who are presently ABD. Applicants should hold qualifications to teach in the Province of Ontario and be able to provide evidence of excellence in teaching at the elementary, secondary or post-secondary level. Candidates are expected to exhibit a broad understanding of, and demonstrated leadership in, integrating the various components of a teacher education program (courses, field/practicum work, and personal experiences).
